Abstract

Research summary supplied by the authors

Leather processing is different from many other manufacturing sectors because it combines biological variability with complicated chemical changes. This makes it both difficult and a good fit for smart systems. This article examines established AI applications in leather grading, process optimization, environmental management, and supply chain analytics, substantiated by peer-reviewed studies and documented industrial pilots. Simultaneously, it investigates the function of quantum mechanics as a fundamental scientific framework for leather chemistry and assesses the feasibility of quantum computing as a prospective research facilitator. Case studies are included when there is reliable evidence, and there are clear lines between industrial practice and exploratory research.
